01 Who we are

Spearn (“Spearn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates spearn.ca, a free tool that helps people in Canada compare credit cards by running their own spending through a calculator and ranking the results by estimated dollar value. This policy explains what information the site handles and how.

02 The information you enter

When you use our “Find my card” quiz, you enter approximate spending amounts (for example, monthly groceries, gas, dining, travel, and bills). These numbers are processed entirely inside your own web browser.

To show your results, your answers are saved in your browser’s local storage — a small storage area on your device — so the results page can read them and calculate your ranking. This data is never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers, and we never see it. It stays on your device until you clear it. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for spearn.ca, or by using your browser’s private/incognito mode.

03 No accounts, no ID, no credit checks

You do not need to create an account, sign in, or give us your name, email, address, phone number, SIN, or any banking or card details to use Spearn. We do not perform credit checks and we do not pull your credit report. The only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to send us directly — for example, if you email our support address.

04 Cookies & analytics

Spearn does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and it does not build a profile of you across other websites.

We may use a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic — like total page views and the general regions visitors come from — without identifying you individually. In addition, our hosting and content-delivery providers may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) for security, performance, and to serve the site. The small amount of browser storage described in Section 02 is used only to make the quiz and results work — not for advertising.

05 Affiliate disclosure

Some links on Spearn are affiliate links. This means Spearn may earn a commission if you are approved for a card after following one of our links to a bank or card issuer — at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not change the numbers our engine calculates: rankings are based on your inputs and publicly available card data, not on what any issuer pays us. 06 Third-party links

Spearn links out to bank and credit-card issuer websites and other third-party pages. Once you leave spearn.ca, you are subject to the privacy policies and terms of those third parties, which we do not control and are not responsible for. We also load fonts and interface libraries from third-party providers (such as Google Fonts and a public code CDN); those providers may receive your IP address as part of delivering their content. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.

07 How your information is protected

Because your spending inputs never leave your device and we don’t maintain user accounts, there is no personal Spearn database of your quiz data to breach. The site is served over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but keeping data on your device by default is a core part of how Spearn is designed.

08 Children

Spearn is intended for adults who are eligible to apply for credit in Canada. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority in their province or territory.

09 Your choices & rights

Under Canadian privacy law (including PIPEDA and, in Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector), you have rights over personal information a business holds about you. Because Spearn does not collect or store your personal information on our servers, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, or delete — the quiz data lives only in your browser and is yours to clear. If you have contacted us by email, you may ask us about that correspondence at any time.

10 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and your continued use of Spearn means you accept the updated policy.

11 Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
